Story of the day
Nearly bankrupt in '16. Champions League in '26.
Ten years ago, Mjällby were in Sweden's third tier, staring at bankruptcy. Their fishing village, Hällevik, is home to about 1,500 people. Last October they won the Allsvenskan with a record 75 points — one defeat all season — led by a head coach who answered a job advert and a scout who delivered mail. Tonight in Gibraltar, under the Rock, they close out their first European tie, 3–0 up. Population: 1,500. Distance to the league phase: two rounds.
The greater miracle — Mjällby's title or Leicester 2016?
