In 2007 a Catalan charity calendar paired Barcelona players with local babies for a UNICEF photoshoot, each star bathing a newborn. A family from Mataró won the raffle, and their son was placed in the arms of a shy 20-year-old named Lionel Messi. The baby was Lamine Yamal. Eighteen years later, Yamal is 18, the face of Spain, at his first World Cup — eased back from injury off the bench. The kid in the photo grew up. Fast.
